Earlier this morning, GatewayPundit released an article that alleged Twitter has been censoring Donald Trump’s campaign tweets!
The post indicates that “Twitter deliberately “shadowbanned” (censored) 32 of Trump’s tweets, plus it deleted one other tweet.” Censoring tweets, although not common, is something that Twitter has done in the past through the process of “shadowbanning.” Shadowbanning is “A practice used by some online community managers to block content added by spammers and Internet trolls, as well as other individuals whose interests do not coincide with the managers’.”
Twitter was alleged to have shadowbanned this tweet by Donald Trump about the battleground Florida election:
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 4, 2016
This is how it appeared the day of its posting:
Although every other Trump tweet has thousands of likes and retweets, this post seems to be stagnant at just over 500 at the time of the posting. The GatewayPundit post implies that “the shadowbanned tweets are Trump’s Twitter effort to get his followers registered to vote, and to get people to request their absentee ballots in those BATTLEGROUND STATES!”
GatewayPundit also notes the following:
Twitter SHADOWBANNED the following October 3, 2016 Tweets. Here are the URL/web address for each one (take note that hardly anyone has re-tweeted or liked any of them):
13 “Trump is for Wisconsin, show Wisconsin is with Trump with this exclusive
Badger State campaign button. A perfect way to share both your”
Twitter DELETED the following October 3, 2016 Tweet:
